The Firex/Kidde i5000 is a 120V AC hardwire ionization smoke detector with 9V battery back-up for single or multiple station use. Wise Hush Manage enables user to quiet a nuisance alarm for up to eight minutes. Power On indicator is lit green when operating on AC power. Interconnectable with up to 12 Firex and Kidde AC/DC smoke alarms. Red LED indicates which detector has sensed smoke. UL Listed. Ten year restricted factory warranty. Upgrade for model i4618. NOTE: The Firex/Kidde i5000 is the replacement for the original Firex 5000, but the mounting plates and wiring connections are several.

These seem to work as advertised. I bought these to replace my Kidde KN-COSM-B Battery-Operated Combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm with Talking Alarms. My old alarms were beeping... so I changed the batteries in them, but they kept on beeping. I did some research and learned that the smoke alarms that come with carbon monoxide detection will constantly beep after about 5 years because they need to be replaced due to the carbon monoxide sensor inside the unit needing to be replaced. So... This time I bought smoke alarms without the carbon monoxide detection feature. These should last 10+ years.

Purchase four of these as part of a set to replace existing 10 year old units. The quick connect harness made things very quick and easy to install. The front loading battery compartment is convenient and helps make the unit look nice and unique.
