I ordered three alarms in May 2011 and all three alarms have manufacturing date of 2008. These alarms typically expire in 7 years from the date they were manufactured. This means I'll now have to replace the alarms in 4 years. This is unfortunate that the seller is not giving full information about the product.

This detector really does have a seven year life span, though I don't understand why if they haven't changed the technology. After almost exactly seven years, within days of each other, my two alarms went off and displayed the ERR message. It would be nice if there was a warning of the approaching demise so one could be prepared with a new one on hand to install as soon as the old one dies. I am unhappy having to go without a CM detector during these winter nights while I wait for the news ones to come in the mail. Otherwise, seems to work fine.
